What is AtroPIM?
AtroPIM is the product information management application of AtroCore, a configurable data management and integration platform. The source code is published on GitHub under the GNU GPLv3 licence, and the company describes itself as an owner-managed software business founded in 2020 with more than 20 staff. AtroCore reports over 300 users worldwide, about half of them in Germany, with manufacturers making up about 60% of the base and wholesalers and retailers about 20% each.
The commercial model is unusually transparent. The open-source edition runs on the buyer's own infrastructure at no licence cost, while the SaaS Edition starts at EUR 400 per month and the SaaS Premium Edition at EUR 1,930 per month. Functions that many buyers consider core, including workflows, versioning, data quality, translations, ETIM classification, the BMEcat adapter and the AI Integration module, are sold as individually priced premium modules. Prebuilt connectors for ERP and e-commerce systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Business Central, Shopware and Adobe Commerce are charged separately.
AtroCore 2.0, released in June 2025, added reusable filters, attributes that vary by product type, channel and region, a redesigned product page and faster imports and exports. Later 2025 updates introduced channel-specific product listings, completeness tracking by product classification, S3-compatible storage and finer role permissions.
strengths
- Core code is open source under GPLv3 and can be self-hosted without licence fees
- Public price list for SaaS hosting, support packages and every premium module
- Native ETIM classification and BMEcat adapter modules for technical B2B catalogues
- Underlying AtroCore platform can model non-product master data such as suppliers
- Print output through a PDF Generator and an EasyCatalog adapter for Adobe InDesign
considerations
- Workflows, versioning, data quality and AI are paid modules, so total cost depends on the module mix
- Small vendor with 20+ staff, so check partner coverage and support capacity in your region
- Each ERP or e-commerce connector carries a separate one-off fee
- No verified GS1/GDSN data pool connectivity for consumer goods syndication
Who is AtroCore best for?
Mid-sized European manufacturers and wholesalers with technical catalogues that want an open source PIM with ETIM and BMEcat support and predictable published pricing.
European presence. Headquartered in Regensburg, Germany, with a mainly European team, SaaS hosting priced for German data centres and roughly half of its 300+ users based in Germany.
Capabilities and AI
AtroCore sells an AI Integration premium module that connects ChatGPT, Jasper or Gemini to the PIM for product descriptions, SEO metadata and translations, with custom prompts and a review step before publishing. Automated AI runs triggered by attribute changes require the separate Workflows module.
