What is COMOSOFT LAGO (current version LAGO TANA)?

Comosoft GmbH was founded in Hamburg in 1994 and develops all its software there. It became part of the Eversfrank Group, a German print and media group, and since early 2022 has belonged to Constellation Software Inc. (CSI), the Toronto-headquartered software holding company. Comosoft also operates in Valencia, Spain, and in Plano, Texas, and lists customers such as Lidl, Lowe's, Bass Pro Shops, Raja, Bader, Peter Hahn and Erwin Müller.

LAGO is a planning and production system for marketing collateral. It combines PIM for article, price and product data, DAM for media, a Whiteboard for campaign and page planning, and channel plug-ins for print via Adobe InDesign, e-commerce, e-paper, mobile, social media and hyperpersonalised marketing (DIM). Proofing, monitoring and history apps support approval workflows. LAGO can take data from ERP systems and prioritise high-margin or excess-stock items using sales and inventory data.

The current release, LAGO TANA, was announced in January 2024 with a refreshed interface, a web dashboard, a server-based Asset Processor that replaces Photoshop-based image processing, and support for Adobe InDesign and Photoshop 2024. Comosoft reports that LAGO is offered on-premise, as SaaS and in cloud versions. AI support for metadata, image descriptions and translations is integrated, and AI-based campaign forecasting is under development.

strengths

  • Deep Adobe InDesign integration for automated, SKU-based production of flyers, catalogues and circulars
  • Combines campaign planning, PIM, DAM, proofing and multichannel output for retail marketing
  • Long-standing references among large grocery, DIY and mail-order retailers in Europe and North America
  • Backed by Constellation Software, a long-term owner of vertical software businesses
  • ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification at the Hamburg headquarters

considerations

  • Print and promotional planning focus makes it less suited to B2B manufacturers needing technical classification
  • No ETIM, ECLASS, BMEcat or GS1 support is documented
  • Named ERP and commerce connectors are not published; integration effort should be scoped
  • AI features are described at a high level, and campaign forecasting is still in development

Frequently asked questions about Comosoft

Who owns Comosoft?

Comosoft has been part of Constellation Software Inc. (CSI), the Toronto-headquartered software group, since early 2022. Before that it belonged to the Eversfrank Group, a German print and media group whose companies include sister firm ppi Media. Development remains in Hamburg, where Comosoft was founded in 1994.

Is COMOSOFT LAGO a PIM system?

LAGO includes a PIM module for article, price and product data, alongside DAM, campaign planning, proofing and channel output. Its main purpose is producing marketing collateral such as flyers, catalogues and digital promotions from that data, so it sits between a retail PIM and a marketing production platform.

Does LAGO work with Adobe InDesign?

Yes. LAGO Layout is a direct plug-in for Adobe InDesign that places product data into SKU-based layouts and supports multi-version documents, placeholder updates and per-project PDF generation. LAGO TANA added support for Adobe InDesign and Photoshop 2024.
